Silver Strands

red-gold cannot stay

frost ices flaming tresses

as winter creeps in

through autumn’s unguarded door

forging fire into silver

Shrinking Violets

wild violets grew
along the dirt road’s hillside
shrinking, they were not
when picked by Mother in May
to brighten our old kitchen

Wolf and Eagle

kind wolf tried to mend
eagle’s bitter troubled soul
with a loving heart
when the time came for eagle 
to fly, wolf blest her tired wings
